Botox for Beginners
Botox is routine for many, but if you’ve never gotten it before, you may have some questions about the process and what you can expect from the results. Botox, medically referred to as botulinum toxin, is a chemical that blocks your neurotransmitter acetylcholine, resulting in temporary muscle paralysis. Not only does Botox reduce current wrinkles and crinkles, but it can also prevent new wrinkles from developing.
Is Botox for Beauty Safe?
First and foremost, yes! Like any cosmetic procedure, Botox has risks, but they are minimal and rare. When you turn to a board-certified Plastic Surgeon, less than 1 percent of patients experience an issue related to Botox. Potential side effects include redness, bruising, or swelling at the injection site, and this doesn’t last more than 1-2 days.
Treat Certain Areas of Your Face
Botox consists of multiple injections to target specific areas of your face. Many people feel self-conscious about crow’s feet, wrinkles in the forehead, wrinkles between the eyebrows, a gummy smile, and more. Botox is an ideal way to treat all of the above! You can discuss your specific goals and areas that you want to target during your appointment.
How Long Do Results Last?
Everyone metabolizes Botox at different speeds, but on average, Botox can last anywhere from 3-6 months. The amount of Botox that you receive also plays a factor in how long the results will last. You will begin seeing results roughly 1-2 weeks following the initial injections. Patience is key, give the product time to work and we promise you’ll like the results!
How Many Units Do I Need?
Botox is sold in units, so the price that you pay depends on how many units you need. Dr. Ashpole can recommend how many units you will need at your consultation. Different areas may require more units in order to achieve the desired results. Age and how deep your current wrinkles are will also come into play.
